ASTM A193 B7 4140 GR10.9 QT steel bar for high strength bolts
Alloy Steel ASTM A193 Grade B7 Round Bars
ASTM A193 B7 steel bar because of good hardening ability, low temperature impact toughness, temper brittleness, and notch sensitivity. So this steel is suitable for making bolts, shafts, connecting rods, gears and so on.
What is ASTM A193 Grade B7?
ASTM A193 B7 is an alloy usually made in the form of steel rods. The elements chromium and molybdenum are also included in ASTM A193 B7, so the strength and corrosion resistance of ASTM A193 B7 steel bar make it suitable for highly corrosive applications. ASTM A195 is also commonly manufactured for bolt use

ASTM A193 B7 Bolts is the most common grade of A193 bolts used in construction. ASTM A193 B7 threaded studs and short, headed bolts are readily available in the marketplace. ASTM A193 B7 Bolts are commonly used in pipe flange connections. ASTM A193 B7 Bolts are typically bought and sold in a plain, bare metal finish but are often hot-dip galvanized, zinc plated, Xylan coated, PTFE coated, or otherwise coated for corrosion resistance. Note that coated bolts may not be able to withstand the high temperatures that uncoated ASTM A193 B7 Bolts can be subjected to. ASTM A193 B7 Bolts are used in pressure vessels that do not need corrosion resistance, aren’t susceptible to stress corrosion cracking, and for temperatures typically less than 750F. However, Grade ASTM A193 B7 Bolts can have many different types of finishes, including: plain finish for standard applications.

FAQ
Can ASTM A193 B7 be galvanized?
The answer is yes, but because of the characteristics of ASTM A193 B7, there is no maximum tensile strength. It is therefore possible to use A193 B7 Bolts with tensile strength higher than 150KSI. In this case, bolts should not be galvanized. For more information, please contact us!
Who manufactures ASTM A193 grade B7 bolts?
We can make them. If you need ASTM A193 B7 bolts, please contact us!
Is B7 stronger than Grade 8?
While ASTM A193 B7 Bolts and SAE Grade 5 fasteners have similar strengths, the B7 fasteners are intended for higher temperature applications. B7 fasteners are tempered at a higher temperature, 1100° F minimum, while Grade 5 bolts are tempered at 800° F minimum.
Is Grade 5 the same as B7?
Although the two fasteners have similar strength in certain places, B7 fasteners are more suitable for higher temperature applications in terms of characteristics. This is because the minimum tempering temperature of a Level 5 bolt is 800°F. While the B7 has a higher tempering temperature, the minimum temperature is 1100°F.
